From Porto Airport: Take the A3 Road for Braga, turning off for the A7 to Guimarães. In Guimarães take the road to Fafe/Felgueiras (N101) and 4 km after follow the left hand fork towards Fafe (N206). Drive through Fafe taking the road towards Celorico de Basto and Mondim de Basto (N206). After 18 km, in Gandarela, continue straight on in direction to Arco de Baúlhe (N206), ignoring the left turn to Fermil and Celorico de Basto. In 10 km you will arrive to Arco de Baúlhe where you must turn right to Celorico de Basto. Continue for 7km until you arrive to Canedo de Basto, then turn left into a narrow lane following the signpost and you will find the house after 500m. (The house locally is known as Casa do Barreiro).

 

The Casa de Canedo is a country manor house build in the 17th century, which was and still is the focus of an agricultural and forestry operation that extends over approximately 90 acres. Located in the Basto region, an area famous for its beautiful countryside and its wines, it is equidistant from the villages of Cabeceiras de Basto, Celorico de Basto and Mondim de Basto, each them the administrative centre of a municipality. The house is situated in a peaceful valley, about 500 metres from the road, between Fermil de Basto and Arco de Baúlhe. It looks out on the mountains of the Serra do Marão which rise up on the other side of the Tâmega river to the high peak of Senhora da Graça.
