From Porto Airport: Take the northern coastal road (IC1) to Viana do Castelo / Valença. Leave that at the km47to Braga Leste. 12 km after the turn off and just before you arrive in Barcelos take a right hand turn signposted Franqueira, Carvalhal. 1,7 Km after BP service station follow this road through the village and woods for 3,5km and then turn right for Quinta do Convento da Franqueira just before a drinking bar in the woods. Go past the church and turn left through the gates. From the town centre of Ponte de Lima: Take the road leading to the new bridge. At the traffic lights, go straight ahead on to the road signposted Barcelos. After 4km, take the left turn to Barcelos. At Barcelos, follow the sign "outras direcções" and then take the ring road over the new bridge and turning right for Póvoa de Varzim. Immediately take the left hand turn for Franqueira, Carvalhal. Follow this road through the village and woods for 4km and then turn right for Quinta do Convento da Franqueira just before a drinking bar in the woods. Go past the church and turn left through the gates.
