From Porto Airport: Take the motorway, Auto Estrada A1 in the direction of Lisbon exiting when you see the signpost for IP 5 - Viseu/Aveiro. After paying the toll turn left along the IP 5 - Viseu. Continue along this road then turn off onto the road to Mangualde. In Mangualde take the N234 towards Nelas. After Nelas turn right into Canas de Senhorim. When you get to the town Canas de Senhorim, turn left and follow the signs to the town centre. Once in the town centre follow the signs to the Igreja Matriz. In front of this Church you will see Solar Abreu Madeira.

The approach to this majestic 18th Century manor is via a delightful pine wood and the sleepy village of Canas de Senhorim. Cattle-raising was once the livelihood of those who lived here, although guests are nowadays more likely to witness the making of the superb Dão wine and Serra cheese. The interior decoration is impeccable, its entrance hall adorned with two dignified carriages, and a stone staircase leading to the living quarters.
